Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Bible Captions mobile application, website, and related services operated by Chimpanzee, LLC (“Chimpanzee,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By using Bible Captions, you agree to these Terms.
1. Bible Captions
Bible Captions is a Bible-reading and note-taking application that may include caption-style Scripture reading, multiple Bible translations, notes, highlights, synchronization, sharing, customization, and subscription features.
Features may change over time.
2. Free and Paid Features
Bible Captions may offer both free and paid features.
Current features, limits, prices, and subscription options are shown in the app and App Store.
Certain features may require an active subscription.
If a subscription ends, paid features may become unavailable. Existing personal notes are not intentionally deleted solely because a subscription expires.
3. Subscriptions and Free Trials
Bible Captions may offer auto-renewable monthly and annual subscriptions.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple and automatically renew unless canceled according to Apple’s subscription terms.
You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Bible Captions may offer a free trial or introductory offer to eligible users. Eligibility is determined by Apple and may depend on prior subscription history.
If you do not cancel before a trial ends, Apple may charge the then-current subscription price.
The purchase terms displayed by Apple at the time of subscription control your transaction.
4. Payments and Refunds
All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple.
Chimpanzee does not directly process payment card information.
Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple’s applicable refund policies.
5. Bible Translation Content
Bible Captions includes Scripture from public-domain and licensed Bible translations.
Copyrighted translations remain the property of their respective copyright holders and licensors.
You may not use Bible Captions to:
- scrape or bulk-download copyrighted Bible text;
- systematically reproduce or redistribute licensed translations;
- remove required copyright notices or attribution;
- bypass technical or subscription restrictions; or
- use content obtained through Bible Captions to create a competing Scripture database or API.
6. Your Notes and Content
You retain ownership of original notes and other original content you create in Bible Captions.
Chimpanzee receives only the limited rights reasonably necessary to operate features you choose to use, such as storing, syncing, displaying, transmitting, or sharing that content.
If you intentionally share content with another person, that person may be able to retain or further share it.
7. Acceptable Use
You may not:
- use Bible Captions unlawfully;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service;
- attempt unauthorized access to systems, APIs, or data;
- circumvent paid-feature protections;
- use bots, scripts, or automated tools to scrape or bulk-access Scripture; or
- infringe the rights of Chimpanzee, Bible publishers, licensors, or others.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, users, licensors, or legal rights.
8. Intellectual Property
Bible Captions, including its software, branding, interface, and original materials, is owned by Chimpanzee or its licensors.
Bible translations and other third-party content remain owned by their respective rights holders.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of licensed Bible content to you or Chimpanzee.
9. Third-Party Services and Availability
Bible Captions depends on third-party services including Apple, Cloudflare, API.Bible, and Bible publishers or licensors.
We cannot guarantee that every third-party service, Bible translation, or feature will remain available indefinitely.
Translations may be changed or removed because of licensing, technical, or provider requirements.
10. Disclaimer
Bible Captions is provided “as is” and “as available.”
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chimpanzee does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, permanent availability of any Bible translation, or loss-free synchronization or storage.
Bible Captions is a Scripture-reading and note-taking tool and does not provide medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chimpanzee, LLC and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of Bible Captions.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chimpanzee’s total liability for any claim relating to Bible Captions will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Bible Captions during the previous twelve months or US $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, United States, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date above.
